What is a haiku?

My last post featured a haiku. And incase you don't know exactly what a haiku is, I want to explain.

Like most poems, a haiku is expressive. Most haikus are about nature, but not all. Also, there are some important syllable rules. The way a haiku works is:
The first line has 5 syllables.
The second has 7 syllables.
And third has 5.
An example of a haiku could be like this:
Five syllables then
Seven syllables to write
There's another five

See:
Five/syll/a/bles/then
Sev/en/syll/a/bles/to/write
There's/a/no/ther/five
